The Yeti Big Top marks Yeti's entry to the 29er fray, despite a fair bit of resistance to start with!
It's a 29er hardtail that offers much more than just big wheels, and that iconic Yeti Turquoise paint job. With interchangeable dropout options, you'll have to say to yourself, "What kind of bike do I want this to be -- gears or no gears, quick release or 12mm thru-axle?" The great part is that you can change your mind whenever you want, and a five minute dropout swap makes the Big Top a whole new experience.
The Big Top frame is made from a combination of Yeti's Pure 7005 butted aluminum tubing in the front triangle and high modulus carbon fiber in the rear. The junction between the two materials is made at the seat/chainstay wishbones where beefy connections assure a solid platform. The rear triangle maintains that signature looping stay design reminiscent of the historic ARC frames that Tomac and Furtado used to ride.
Modern details include a tapered headtube that accepts a standard 1-1/8" press-in top cup and a 1.5" lower, a direct mount front derailleur boss (which also comes with a machined alloy cover with a laser etched Yetiman logo if you ride without front gears), and a removable ISCG-05 mount.
The evidence of Yeti's attention is found all over the bike. Even the cable guides are machined from aluminum. They hold the cables and hoses securely and can be removed if you don't need them for your gears/no gears configuration.
